Report: 3-Year-Old Boy Fatally Shot During Gun-Related Game

A 3-year-old boy was fatally shot at his Michigan City home Sunday while reportedly playing a game with his mother's boyfriend involving a gun.

The shooting took place around 3:36 p.m. in the Terrace Acres Mobile Home Park, according to Michigan City Police.

Three-year-old Lance Wilson was found dead at the scene with a gunshot wound, police said, and his mother’s boyfriend was taken into custody.

Zachariah Grisham, 24, faces felony charges for neglect of a dependent and reckless homicide, according to the LaPorte County Sheriff's Office.

Prosecutors said Monday the boy often played a game where he pointed his finger at Grisham and said "bang, bang," and the Grisham would respond by pointing his gun at the boy and pulling the trigger, but Grisham forgot the handgun was loaded, according to the Northwest Indiana Times.

Details surrounding the shooting were not immediately available, but Grisham is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
