3 Shot, 1 Fatally, in Chicago's Wentworth Gardens Neighborhood

Three men were shot, one fatally, in Chicago's Wentworth Gardens neighborhood early Wednesday, according to police.

Chicago police said officers responded to a call at around 5:39 a.m. in the 3800 block of South Wentworth Avenue on the city's South Side.

Authorities said the three men were outside when someone opened fire.

A 24-year-old man was shot multiple times and was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office could not immediately confirm the fatality and further details, including his identity, were not available.

Authorities said a 22-year-old man was shot twice in the chest and taken to the University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition. A 25-year-old man was shot in the neck and back and also suffered a graze wound to the forehead, officials said. He was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital in serious but stable condition, according to police.

No one is in custody in connection with the shooting, according to police, who continue to investigate.
