3 Injured in East Garfield Park Hotel Fire

One of the victims was listed in "red" condition by fire officials

Three people are hospitalized and nine people have been displaced after a fire at an East Garfield Park hotel on Saturday evening, the Chicago Fire Department said.

According to officials, the fire broke out at the New Parie Hotel in the 2800 block of west Washington on Saturday afternoon. The fire has been struck out by firefighters, and was contained to one unit on the first floor of the structure.

A 52-year-old woman was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, and two other victims, a 28-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, were taken to Norwegian in green condition, officials said.

During the fire, firefighters evacuated eight people out of a second story window and five from a rear door under heavy smoke conditions. 

One person refused treatment at the scene. A total of nine people were displaced due to the fire. Officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the blaze.
