3 in Custody After Police Chase, Crash that Injured 4

A 9-year-old boy was among two pedestrians injured in the South Side crash, according to police

Three people are in custody after a police chase and crash that injured four people Tuesday afternoon on Chicago's South Side, authorities confirmed.

Officers attempted to pull over a sedan for a traffic violation in the 8300 block of S May in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood at around 12:15 p.m., police said.

The car sped off, southbound on Racine Ave, according to police. Officers pursued the car, which ran a red light, hitting another vehicle at the intersection of Racine Ave and 83rd St.

The two people in the car that was hit, a 72-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman were taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition, police said. 

Two pedestrians were also hit, officials confirmed. A 9-year-old boy was taken to Comer Children's Hospital and a 28-year-old woman was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, both in stable condition, police said. 

Three offenders are in custody, and officers recovered a weapon and narcotics from the car, according to police. Charges are pending.
