3-Year-Old Boy Shot in Face, Killed at South Deering Home

He was rushed to Trinity Hospital and pronounced dead, police said

A 3-year-old boy was found shot to death Sunday afternoon at a home in South Deering on the Far South Side.

About 4:15 p.m., officers found the boy suffering from a gunshot wound to the face inside the home in the 9600 block of South Escanaba, according to preliminary information from Chicago police.

He was rushed to Trinity Hospital and pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office didn’t immediately confirm his death.

CPD spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said investigators are trying to determine whether the shooting was accidental.

Area South detectives are investigating the shooting.
