Three Chicago suburbs have been recognized among the best suburbs in the country.
Business Insider published its study of all suburbs with populations between 5,000 and 100,000 that are located within 40 kilometers of the nearest metropolitian area. The Midwest snagged the most spots in the top 50, and Hinsdale, Deerfield and Winnetka are among them.
The suburbs were rated based on their average commute times to the city, median household income, poverty and crime rates, public school ratings and housing affordability. While Chicago's suburbs claimed three top spots, the state with the most suburbs on the list was Ohio.
West suburban Hinsdale came in at No. 28. Business Insider highlighted the town's "quaint downtown" and excellent public schools as well as its high median household income of $161,701.
Deerfield to the north was ranked No. 38 and was recognized for its many corproate headquarters, its low crime rate (virtually none, according to Business Insider) and its schools, six of which earned perfect scores on the Great Schools rating.
Lastly, north suburban Winnetka ranked No. 40 on the list. With a median household income of $211,250, Winnetka is one of the richest suburbs in the country. It also has one of the highest rates of residents with bachelor's degrees, according to Business Insider.
