3 Shot Dead In Gary Home

Young girl witnessed drug-related shooting, police say

An overnight shooting that left three dead and two injured inside a Gary, Ind., home was likely witnessed by a young child, authorities said.

The shooting happened around 10:45 p.m. Thursday, police said.  One of the injured was able to escape the home and ran down the 3800 block of Washington Street to call 911.

"Officers went to that address where they found the door open, entered the residence and found three males shot in the living room, apparently dead, shot multiple times," said Gary Police Sgt. Tom Pawlak.

An unspecified amount of drugs -- marijuana packed to sell -- and money were confiscated at the scene, authorities told NBC Chicago.

A 4-year-old girl was also discovered in the living room and was taken into protective custody.  Officials said they believed one of the shooting victim's was the child's father.

The girl was unharmed, Pawlak said.

The survivors, ages 30 and 23, were listed in stable condition at nearby Methodist Hospital and were being questioned.
