266 CPS Employees Removed After Thorough Background Checks

CPS announced the results of background checks conducted in the wake of misconduct and abuse allegations Sunday.

The report stated that 266 employees have not been cleared based on information uncovered in the process, thought their cases are still being evaluated.

Nearly 98 percent of the more than 43,000 employees however, will be allowed return to work—57 of those are teachers.

CPS CEO Janice Jackson said Sunday that all staff is ready for classes to start and no school will be disproportionally impacted.

“We also put in contingency plans to make sure that substitutes and other individuals from central office, etc. are there and available to support the schools, if needed, on the first day,” she said.
