Man Dies After Suffering Medical Emergency at Lollapalooza

The 24-year-old man suffered the emergency during Saturday's concert, authorities say

A 24-year-old has died after suffering a medical emergency at Lollapalooza on Saturday night, officials said.

According to the Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications, the victim was near Perry’s Stage at the music festival when he suffered a medical emergency. He was later transported to an area hospital in critical condition.  

Shortly afterward, authorities say that the unidentified victim was pronounced dead.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family during this difficult time,” the OEMC said in a statement.

A cause of death has not been announced at this time, and authorities are continuing to investigate the death.

Over the first three days of the four-day festival, a total of 88 people have been hospitalized, a decrease from last year’s event, which saw 160 people hospitalized.
