An elderly woman was hospitalized in critical condition Friday afternoon following a fire at a West Side Lawndale neighborhood senior citizen facility.
It happened at the Albany Terrace Apartments at 3030 W. 21st Place and was struck out by 2 p.m., fire officials say.
Some residents evacuated themselves from the building, but the 67-year-old victim suffered smoke inhalation.
Fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze.
