Ready to run, Chicago?

The Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle steps off at 8:30 a.m. Sunday in Grant Park, officially ringing in the city's race season for the 34th year. Registration for the annual 8K closed last month after once again reaching its capacity of 40,000 participants, officials said.

“The Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K is a Chicago tradition that is circled on the calendars of runners of all levels, from Olympians to first-timers,” Executive Race Director Carey Pinkowski said. “To have 40,000 people united in celebrating spring on the streets of Chicago is incredible."

If you can't make it this year and want to cheer on someone in the race, you now can watch it live online.

NBCChicago.com will live stream the start of the Shuffle and the finish line through 11:15 a.m., so you can watch your friends and family finish.

There certainly will be plenty to see.

Olympian Lisa Uhl joins Olympian Dathan Ritzenhein and "Biggest Loser" winner Danni Allen among the 40,000 runners competing for time.

Uhl finished 13th in the 10,000-meter race at the 2012 London Games during her first Olympic appearance. Ritzenhein returns to Chicago after finishing 13th in the Olympic 10,000-meter final as a member of his third Olympic team.

Allen plans to run the Shuffle as part of her training for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

A post-race party will be held on-site immediately after the race featuring live music from the Freddy Jones Band. A post-race participant celebration will be hosted at The Scout Waterhouse & Kitchen, at 1301 S. Wabash, from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.
