A 20-year-old man was killed in a shooting outside a convenience store in southwest suburban Joliet Wednesday night.
About 6 p.m., Jevit Rai ran into the store in the 100 block of South Briggs Street and asked the clerk for help after being shot outside, according to Joliet Police Chief Brian Benton and the Will County coroner’s office.
Rai, an Aurora resident, was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, where he died at 7:40 p.m., authorities said.
Detectives are trying to find witnesses. Anyone with information should call Joliet police at (815) 724-3100.
