2 Young Children Found Dead Inside Kenosha Home

An adult woman was also found inside the home alive and transported to a local hospital

Two young children were found dead inside a home in southeastern Wisconsin early Saturday morning.

The children — 3-year-old Alicia and a 1-year-old Javier — were killed at the hands of their own mother, according to their father, Javier Arrellano.

"I walked in and I saw blood," said Arrellano, who lives with the family but is not married to the mother. "I held them, and they weren't breathing. They were cold."

Officers with the Kenosha Police Department responded to a home in the 5000 block of 33rd Avenue at about 3:15 a.m. regarding a death investigation. When they arrived, they found the two children dead.

An adult woman was found alive in the home and transported to a local hospital, police said. The extent of her injuries is unknown. That woman is the children's mother, according to Arrellano, but police have not yet identified her.

Arrellano told NBC Chicago the woman had been depressed over the last few days, but he has no idea why she would murder their children, saying she was "sweet" and never acted aggressively toward them before.

"I jumped back, screaming 'Why my kids, why my kids!'" Arrellano said.

Police believe there is no threat to the public at this time.
