2 Stabbed During Rancid, Dropkick Murphys Concert at Northerly Island: Cops

A man and woman were stabbed at Northerly Island Tuesday night during a punk concert, authorities said.

The two victims were arguing with their attacker in a bar area that “spilled out into the venue” about 9:20 p.m., police said. The person the pair were arguing with took out a knife and stabbed the man, 29, in the neck and face, police said. The 34-year-old woman sustained lacerations to her abdomen, according to police.

Both victims were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where their conditions stabilized.

Their alleged attacker was taken into custody and charges were pending, police. Authorities said a witness help prevent the suspect from getting away.

A weapon was recovered from the scene, according to police.

Rancid and the Dropkick Murphys were playing a concert at the Huntington Bank Pavilion.

Employees at Northerly Island told NBC 5 they saw two men having an altercation in the merchandise line when a fight broke out.

"Next thing I know I see blood pouring everywhere," said one employee who wished to be named only by his first name, Deandre.

No other injuries were reported.

Concert goers said they went through metal detectors and had their bags checked at the entrance to the concert.

"You know, I felt safe, but at the same time I could totally see how somebody slipped past security," said Carl Johnson, who was at the show.

Foreigner and Cheap Trick are scheduled to play at the venue Wednesday night. It remains unclear if more security precautions will be in place.
