2 Marshalls Stores Closing Within Days in Chicago, Company Announces

The stores are among the latest to close on Chicago’s South Side

Two Marshalls locations in Chicago are set to close in a matter of days, according to the company.

The locations, both of which are on the city’s South Side, are expected to close within a week, a Marshalls spokesperson confirmed.

The closing stores are at 11620 S. Marshfield Avenue in the Morgan Park neighborhood and 1422 W. 47th St. in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.

“While we are always assessing and reviewing our real estate strategies, the decision to close any store is one we make with thoughtful consideration,” Marshalls said in a statement, noting that it offered employees of the stores employment at other locations. "Chicago remains a very important market for us. We appreciate the loyalty of our Marshalls customers and believe they will continue to find great values at our other Marshalls Chicago store locations, five of which are located nearby on the South Side. “

The stores are among the latest to close on Chicago’s South Side.

Late last year, residents and community leaders protested the closing of two Target locations in the area, including one in Morgan Park.
