2 Killed, 2 Critically Injured in I-55 Wrong-Way Crash

The driver of the vehicle and the driver of the taxi were killed, state police said

Two people were killed and two others injured in a crash Saturday on I-55.

About 4:20 a.m., a vehicle traveling the wrong way in the southbound lanes collided with a taxi at Kedzie Avenue, Illinois State Police said.

The driver of the vehicle and the driver of the taxi were killed, state police said.

Two passengers in the taxi were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, state police said.

Southbound lanes were closed at California and traffic was being diverted to Kedzie.

The Stevenson Expressway has reopened since 8:30 a.m., officials said.

Illinois State Police are investigating.
