Police: 19-Year-Old Gas Station Employee Fatally Shot During Robbery

One person is dead and another is critically injured after a shooting during an attempted robbery, according to police.

A 19-year-old man, who was filling in for his father at the gas station, was found dead by police when they arrived on the scene.

"He's a student," one of the young man's family members said. "He goes to college. Unfortunately it's a life taken too soon."

A 55-year-old man was also found, and he was taken to Christ Medical Center in critical condition, according to authorities.

The 19-year-old victim, who has not been identified by authorities, was filling in at the gas station for his father, who is currently out of the country.

A $12,000 reward is being offered in an effort to find the shooter.

Police say that no one is in custody, and that they are searching for a suspect in the case. They are also scouring nearby surveillance footage to piece together what happened during the robbery.

Police believe that the apparent attempted robbery was an isolated incident, but they are keeping increased patrols in the area following the shooting.
