Two people were shot to death on the Kennedy Expressway early Sunday on the Northwest Side, according to Illinois State Police.
Crews responded about 4 a.m. to the shooting in the northbound lanes of the expressway north of Armitage Avenue, state police said.
A silver Chevrolet Tahoe had stopped on the expressway, where the male driver and a female passenger were each found dead with a gunshot wound to the head, police said.
The Illinois State Police identified the victims as Eric Taylor, 43, and Camille Cooley, 36, both of Waukegan.
A handgun was found inside the vehicle on the floor near the driver, police said.
All outbound lanes were reopened at 7:25 a.m., police said.
