Two children were injured when a stray bullet shattered the window of a restaurant on Chicago's South Side Friday evening, police confirmed.
At 6:27 p.m., a 24-year-old man was walking in the 6700 block of S Stony Island Ave in the Grand Crossing neighborhood, according to police. An unknown offender emerged from the alley and fired shots, authorities said. The man was not hit, but a bullet struck a nearby Pizza Hut, shattering the window.
Two girls, ages 6 and 8, suffered minor cuts from the glass, according to police. The 6-year-old girl sustained injuries to her back and arm, and the 8-year-old's injuries were not disclosed.
They were both taken to Comers Childrens Hospital in good condition, according to police.
No one is in custody, and police continue to investigate.
