2 Shot in Back-to-Back Ukrainian Village Robberies

Five minutes after a woman was shot and robbed, a man was struck in the face

A woman remained in critical condition Friday after she was shot during an armed robbery in Chicago's Ukrainian Village neighborhood.

Chicago Police said the 30-year-old woman was walking around 1:25 a.m. on the 1000 block of North Damen Avenue when she was shot in the abdomen and robbed.

Just five minutes after the incident, police said another shooting was reported two blocks away in the 2100 block of West Thomas Street. A 27-year-old man was shot in the face and also robbed.

Detectives are still investigating whether the two incidents are connected. They said both victims were shot and robbed by a male.

Both the woman and man were rushed to Stroger Hospital. The man's condition remains unknown.

Police haven't released a description of the suspect, who remains at large.
