2 Officers Injured when Driver Slams into Squad Car

Two Chicago police officers were injured Sunday when a vehicle smashed into their marked squad car on the North Side.

The Chicago Police SUV was parked in the 1300 block of North Clark Street around 3:30 a.m. when another vehicle hit it head on, according to police news affairs.

The officers were reportedly taking a statement from a passenger in the back seat of the squad car at the time of the crash.

Both officers and the passenger were taken to area hospitals in good condition and the driver of the vehicle was taken into police custody.

Police said alcohol may have been involved in the crash but no charges have been filed.
