2 Killed in South Deering Crash

A man and a woman were both killed and a third person was hurt when a car fleeing police crashed Saturday night in the South Deering neighborhood, authorities said.

While speeding away from police, the stolen vehicle struck two parked cars and then flipped over on its roof in the 10300 block of South Torrence Avenue about 9:45 p.m., police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

The driver, 19-year-old Ronald Greenfield, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead at 10:30 p.m., authorities said.

One of the passengers, a 23-year-old woman, was taken to South Shore Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 9:50 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. Her name was withheld Sunday morning pending notification of her family.

A second passenger, a 20-year-old woman, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Alfaro said.
