2 Injured When Car Hits Tree on NW Side

The accident happened at the intersection of Montrose and Mobile avenues.

Chicago Police Major Investigation Accident Unit is investigating the cause of a car accident that injured two people – one critically-- early Saturday on the Northwest Side.

The accident happened about 1:20 a.m. at Montrose and Mobile avenues when a car struck a tree, according to police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.

The driver of the car was traveling eastbound on Montrose when the accident happened, police said. He is listed critical condition at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center early Saturday.

A passenger was taken in serious condition to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Greer said. To other passengers refused medical treatment on the scene.

No citations have been issued as of early Saturday.
