Two men were charged with killing three people and injuring two more in a shooting in the Fuller Park neighborhood during a barbecue last month.
About 30 people were gathered in the 300 block of West 42nd Street at the barbecue, which served as a memorial for someone who died in a crash years ago, when more than 15 shots rang out, according to a witness. The incident happened around 12:10 a.m. on Sept. 29.
Two men, identified as Anthony Jackson and Lawrence Brown, opened fire from an alley nearby and struck five of the people gathered at the barbecue. Three of them died from their injuries.
Jackson, 20, and Brown, 22, were each charged with three felony counts of first-degree murder, two felony counts of aggravated battery and discharge of a firearm and two felony counts of attempted first-degree murder. Brown was also charged with one felony count of unlawful use of weapon.
The victims who died as a result of the shooting are 25-year-old Antian Hardmon, 22-year-old Ayanna Northern and a 30-year-old man whose name was not available. A 24-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man were also injured in the shooting.
