2 Charged in Logan Square NYE Sexual Assault

An 18-year-old suburban girl was attacked on New Year's Eve near Congress Theater, police said

Bail was set at $750,000 for two teen boys charged in the New Year’s Eve beating and sexual assault of a Highland Park teen near Congress Theater.

Aamwar W. Barbour, 16, and Terrance M. Ford, 15, were charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault, kidnapping and robbery. They were both charged as adults.

An 18-year-old suburban girl came into the city on New Year's Eve to attend a concert at Congress Theater, 2135 N. Milwaukee Ave. She went into a nearby restaurant where she left with a group of people, police said.

Witnesses said she was found naked and bleeding at about 9:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of North Rockwell, right around the corner from the theater. Her injuries left her in a coma.

Days after the attack, officers questioned three juveniles in the case but released them without charges.

During court on Tuesday, Barbour's attorney asked that the case be transferred to Juvenile Court, but a decision has not yet been made.
