Two men are facing drug charges after an alleged drug deal took place outside Woodfield Mall in northwest suburban Schaumburg.

Daniel S. Mason, 25, was charged with a felony count of unlawful delivery of cannabis, according to a statement from Schaumburg police.

Christopher M. Rossiter, 19, was charged with one felony count of possession of cannabis and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Security officers encountered the men in a parked vehicle in the Woodfield Mall parking lot about 1:40 p.m. July 12, police said.

The officers smelled burnt marijuana from inside the car and called police, but Mason ran away before police could arrive, according to the statement. He was arrested a short time later.

A subsequent investigation revealed the men met in the parking lot and Mason sold half a pound of marijuana to Rossiter in exchange for $1,000 in cash, police said.

About 250 grams of suspected cannabis, 74 grams of a substance suspected to be THC wax and about $1,000 in cash were recovered from the scene, in addition to various drug paraphernalia, police said.
