‘You Should Be Ashamed Of Yourselves': $1K Reward For Information on Owner of Dogs Who Attacked Woman

Doctors have been working to save her leg since the attack last week.

Alisha Fowler has a strong message for the owner of two dogs who savagely attacked her mother.

“You should be ashamed of yourselves,” she said. “I don’t know what your purpose is in raising dogs that are killers, and that you mistreat which causes them to act this way.”

A little more than a week ago, Fowler’s 68-year-old mother, Marion Fowler, was walking near 65th Street and Evans Avenue on the South Side when two dogs charged her.

“He pulled off her clothes and they took off her shoes," Alisha said of one of the dogs. "They just wouldn’t stop biting her."

Marion had surgery Thursday afternoon to address the numerous dog bites that ripped apart her right arm and leg.

Doctors have been working to save that leg since the attack.

“As long as there is no infection they will be able to save her leg, it is just a long process," Alisha said.

Community activist Andrew Holmes has been helping the family, who had been visiting relatives when the attack happened.

Holmes has put up a $1,000 reward that he hopes will lead to the dog's owner.

“We are going to try work and find out who in that community know who the owners are you need to step up to the plate,” he said.

From her hospital bed, Marion thanked the good Samaritan who tried to get the dogs off of her.

“I hope to meet you so I can say thank you face to face,” she said.

Alisha not only wants to thank that man, but also the Chicago police officers who put their lives in danger to save her mother.

“The universe just lined up to have all those people there to be able to help my mom and allow her to be here today," she said.
