15 Restaurants to Offer Taste of Chicago ‘Pop-Ups'

The Taste of Chicago is getting another food infusion.

City officials chose 15 restaurants that will serve dishes for one day each during the annual festival July 11 to 15 in Grant Park.

The restaurants include Beat Kitchen, Jin Ju and Marie's Pizza & Liquors on July 11; Inspiration Kitchens, Riva and Tre Kronor on July 12; Cafe Trinidad, Garifuna Flava and LM Restaurant on July 13; Arun's, Austrian Bakery and the Nile Restaurant on July 14; and Caffe Gelato, Karyn's on Green and West Town Tavern on July 15, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events officials say they wanted to include restaurateurs who may have been put off by the cost. They won't have to pay the city a $3,000 fee that the other 40 restaurants participating do.

The music headliners include Jennifer Hudson. Concert tickets will cost $25 this year when the music festival used to be free.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel says he wanted to reverse years of losses incurred by the festival.
