Police are asking for the public's help in tracking down a teenager they think may have shot 14-year-old Sarina Tatum Wednesday night.
Sarina was shot in the head, her body left lying along railroad tracks in Hammond.
Sarina may have just broken up with a boyfriend and been involved in some dispute prior to the shooting, or this may have been just a random act of violence, her mother said. She's not sure.
Other family members said there is a lot of gang activity along the street where this happened, but Sarina wasn't involved in any gang.
The teen police are looking for is described as an African American male, 5 feet 2 inches tall, wearing gray shorts and a black-hooded sweatshirt at the time.
If you saw anyone matching this description Wednesday evening, you're asked to call Lt. Michael Jorden, Hammond PD, 219-852-2974.
