A 14-year-old boy was shot by a person on a bike Friday in the Loop and rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, authorities said.
The shooting occurred near the cornder of Wacker Driver and Wabash Avenue about 6:15 p.m. The teen was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition. Police said the 14-year-old was "purchasing merchandise from another individual" when another man on a bike shot him.
Officers were just blocks away at the time of the shooting and the area is "saturated with crime camers," CPD spokesman Anthony Guglielmi tweeted.
No other information was immediately available.
