Chicago Gets Wind Whipped

High waves rock Lake Michigan

Remember the joggers and bikers who got wiped out along the bike path on Lakeshore Drive a few weeks ago?

That scenario nearly played itself out again on Tuesday with dangerous winds increasing in intensity throughout the day. A wind advisory and lakeshore flood advisory are in effect for Chicago with high waves possible. Powerful winds between 25 to 35 mph could gust up to 50 mph.

Northwest Indiana is under a flood watch, and Hoosiers could also see an inch or two of slushy accumulation throughout the day.

A winter weather advisory is in place for Newton, Jasper and Benton counties through early Tuesday night. The southern area could see heavy rainfall at times as well.

Expect a high of only 40 degrees on Tuesday.

The rest of the week looks to be dry, with temperatures hovering in the same chilly zone but the sun peeking back out.
