13-Year-Old Girl Shot in Burnside Home, Police Say

The girl was in her bedroom when she was shot, according to police

A 13-year-old girl is being treated for a gunshot wound to her shoulder after she was hit inside of a home on Chicago’s South Side on Saturday morning.

According to police, the girl was in the back bedroom of a residence in the 9200 block of South Ellis Avenue in the city’s Burnside neighborhood when two men standing on the sidewalk began firing shots at the residence, police said.

A round went through the window of the home, striking the girl in the left shoulder.

She was taken to Comers Children’s Hospital, where she is listed in stable condition on Saturday afternoon, according to Chicago police.

No suspects are in custody in the case, and Area South Detectives are still investigating the shooting.
