13-Year-Old Boy Struck, Killed by Vehicle on Chicago's Far South Side

The boy was crossing a street in the South Chicago neighborhood when he was struck

A 13-year-old boy was struck and killed while walking in a crosswalk on Chicago’s Far South Side on Thursday evening, according to police.

The boy was walking in the 8300 block of South Exchange in the city’s South Chicago neighborhood at approximately 6:20 p.m. when he was hit by a passing vehicle, authorities say.

The boy was taken to Comer’s Children’s Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

According to authorities, the 52-year-old driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene. The department’s Major Accidents Unit is investigating.
