Jody Weis Snags Chicago Crime Job

The former Police superintendent has been named deputy director of the Chicago Crime Commission

Jody Weis is headed back to the Chicago crime scene.

The former police superintendent has accepted a job as deputy director of the Chicago Crime Commission, the non-profit organization announced Tuesday.

The former FBI agent is expected to appear at a Wednesday news conference to discuss plans to focus resources on gangs, guns and drugs to "protect and enhance Chicago's image and social viability," according to a commission statement.

Weis took over as Chicago's top cop in 2008. He left earlier this year when his contract expired. He took with him a controversial $76,308 check for 64 unused vacation days.

Former Newark, N.J., police chief Garry McCarthy was appointed in his place.
