10 Hospitalized in LSD Wreck

Traffic on Lake Shore Drive is back to normal after a three-car crash at the Oak Street curve sent 10 people -- including six children -- to the hospital Sunday afternoon.

At 12:45 p.m., an EMS Plan I, which automatically sends at least five ambulances to the scene, was enacted for the crash at 1000 North Lake Shore Drive, according to Fire Media Affairs Chief Kevin MacGregor.

Three cars crashed, according to police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan.  At least one vehicle struck a wall, according to MacGregor.

There were 10 patients, including six children, who were all taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The children were in good condition and four adults were in fair condition, MacGregor said.

Traffic was temporarily diverted onto the Inner Drive to avoid the scene, but was operating normally by about 1:30 p.m.  The ambulance plan was secured at 1:05 p.m.
