1 Wounded in I-57 Shooting Near Calumet Park

The interstate was closed for approximately four hours

A 25-year-old man riding in a car on Interstate 57 near suburban Calumet Park was shot in both arms, causing authorities to shut down the roadway for just over three hours. 

According to Illinois State Police, the man was riding in a vehicle with three other people at approximately 2:40 a.m. when the 25-year-old was shot. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. 

After the shooting, the southbound lanes of Interstate 57 were shut down from 147th Street to 124th Street for approximately three hours, and re-opened at 7:15 a.m. 

The incident remains under investigation, according to officials.
