A crash involving 14 vehicles left one person injured and blocked several lanes of traffic on Lake Shore Drive during the morning rush hour early Thursday.
The crash took place in the northbound lanes of Lake Shore Drive near Grand Avenue and involved 14 cars, according to police.
One person was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, authorities said, and the person's condition was unknown.
The crash throttled northbound traffic, shutting down all but the far right lane for a period of time and causing a major back-up.
As of 7:20 a.m., most of the lanes had reopened.
