1 Injured in Gary Officer-Involved Shooting

Officers were called to the 2400 block of Roosevelt Street for reports of a man with a gun

One person was injured in an officer-involved shooting Sunday evening in Gary, Indiana, according to police.

At approximately 5:02 p.m., officers were called to the 2400 block of Roosevelt Street for reports of a man with a gun, a spokeswoman for the Gary Police Department said in a statement. 

Upon arrival, officers found the armed male, according to police, who said he "refused to follow officers orders and shots were fired." 

The male was taken to an area hospital for treatment, though police did not specify if he had sustained injuries from the gunshots. 

Authorities said no officers were injured in the incident. The Lake County Sheriff's Department will handle the investigation into the shooting.
