1 Dead, 2 Injured in Fatal South Side Fire

A fatal fire in a senior citizen building claimed the life of one victim Thursday, leaving two additional inhabitants injured, Chicago Fire Media confirmed.

The fire enveloped the 8-story building at 737 E. 69th St. around 7 p.m.

When emergency responders arrived at the scene, one person was announced dead on arrival. The two additional victims, both female, have been transported to the hospital. They are in fair but stable condition, Chicago Fire Media reports.

As of 9 p.m. Thursday the fire had been contained with firefighters and ambulances on the scene.
