The driver of the car heard gunshots and realized the car, with three passengers inside, had been shot at, the trooper said. The other wounded passenger was transferred to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, and was treated and released, state police said.

The driver of the car was not injured, and the driver’s side passenger fled the scene, the trooper said.

There were no witnesses to the shooting and state police did not have a description of the vehicle that the shots were fired from as of later Sunday morning.
