Pregnant Woman Stabbed to Death While Daughter Watched

"She was in the room," neigbor says

An Illinois man wanted for questioning in the death of his pregnant wife may be in Fargo, North Dakota, authorities said Thursday.  They're asking residents there to be on the lookout.

31-year-old Eric Gilford, an active duty Navy man, is wanted for questioning in the death of his pregnant wife, whom he married in February this year. Authorities say he is the "sole person of interest" in the case.

Gilford's car, a black 2008 Dodge Charger with military plates reading 41279US, was found in downtown Fargo by police.

Gilford is described as 6-feet-4, 210 punds with brown hair and brown eyes, and according to a Facebook post he had suspicions about his wife's well-being.

"The police detectives found my wife living at her physically abusive ex-boyfriends house..." said a post from May 22. Cops have not listed the ex-boyfriend as a suspect.

Neighbors near the crime scene described it as a massacre.

The woman appeared to have been stabbed more than 30 times Wednesday in Villa Park while her young daughter watched, witnesses say.

"I walked through back door and the little girl came up covered in blood. She told me her ma got stabbed,” said Dawn Wood who saw the woman after the attack.  “I walked further found her on floor"

The unnamed woman, who was about 5 months pregnant, suffered multiple stab wounds. She was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

She was attacked around 2:30 p.m. while visiting a friend’s apartment in Villa Park, on the 300 block of North Ardmore, police said..

Al Spagnola, who saw the woman’s body before paramedics arrived, said the woman had just moved to town a few weeks ago to get away from her ex-boyfriend.

Spagnola, who described the scene as a massacre, worries for the young girl.

"She was inside the room," said Spagnola.
