It was all quiet on the Blagojevich front Saturday. For the first time since Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested at his North Side home eight days ago, security detail outnumbered the media.
The governor finally addressed the media and the public Friday in a passionate declaration of innocense, saying he would be cleared of charges he tried to sell President-elect Barack Obama's senate seat.
Mayor Richard Daley continued to be out of tune with the state's political leader chorus calling for Blagojevich's resignation.
"He should really look at his family and look at the people of Illinois and be able to make a right decision,” Daley said Saturday. “That would be up to him to figure that out.”
One thing Daley is saying loud a clear -- a special election is a bad idea.
"That's 30 million dollars," the mayor said. "We have an economic crisis in America. A crisis! And we're gonna ask taxpayers for 30 million dollars?"
The impeachment hearings against the governor resume in Springfield on Monday.
