Radio Sex

Grandmothers may have been right when they said today's music is too raunchy.

Early sexual activity and sexy lyrics in popular songs were linked in a study from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Teens were twice as likely to have sex if they listened to more than 14 hours of degrading music, researchers said.

To be considered degrading, the sexual act had to be completely physical with no emotion, and non-consensual.

About one third of the 700 ninth graders surveyed were sexually active.

Those who had the least exposure to degrading lyrics were less likely to participate in sexual activities.

Nearly 25 percent of teenage girls have had a sexually transmitted infection, according to the Centers for Disease Control. Researchers are looking for reasons in the increase of sexual activity amongst teens.
