UPDATE: Lawsuit settled...
Well, this takes the cake. Or in this case, the cinnamon muffin bomb.
Evanston establishment Fraiche Bakery Café is filing suit against a chef who resigned two weeks ago, and then returned days later to scoop up two binders containing the recipes for cupcakes and the restaurant's signature dish, the cinnamon bomb. Once Owner Susan Davis Friedman realized the recipes were missing, she filed a lawsuit against the chef.
The Chicago Tribune reports that Friedman, "maintains the recipes are restaurant property, items developed by the chef and her assistants during the three and a half years since Fraiche opened in the site of the former Kim’s Bakery."
Friedman's attorney and husband, Benson Friedman, of course, maintains that the recipes are Fraiche's property -- citing a non-disclosure agreement as the chef's alleged downfall if they will attempt anything with said recipes.
