NBC to televise LPGA

This year's LPGA State Farm Classic will be telecast by a major network for the first time.

The tournament's executive director says NBC will show portions of the final two rounds.

The State Farm Classic begins June 4 at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield, Ill.

On the same day as that announcement, Annika Sorenstam, who retired from the LPGA Tour last year saying she wanted to start a business and a family, said on her blog Thursday that she and her husband, Mike McGee, are expecting their first child this fall.

Sorenstam's retirement came after 72 victories and 10 majors.

"We have had a lot of exciting changes in the past few months, and adding a new addition to our family later this fall will certainly be at the top of that list,'' Sorenstam said. "We are absolutely thrilled and look forward to this new chapter of our lives.''

Also in the world of golf, NBC Sports.com recently shared a classic moment from golfer Henrik Stenson

"Seeking any way to avoid getting his clothes caked with mud after a wayward tee shot on the par-4 third hole during the first round of the CA Championship, Henrik Stenson came up with only one alternative -- to lose his shoes, socks, shirt and slacks," the Web site says.

“Just the way God created me,” Stenson is quoted as saying.  See for yourself!
