Car Care Trade Show Dumps Chicago

Organization pulls out in response to federal ruling

A trade show scheduled for 2013 has decided to pull out of Chicago.

The Car Care World Expo has announced it will stay in Las Vegas instead of booking McCormick Place, the Chicago Tribune reported.

The organization's decision was in reaction to a federal court decision to strike down an Illinois labor law that allowed exhibitors to do their own booth setups -- something the group is able to do in Vegas.

The trade show would have brought 6,000 exhibitors to the city, injecting around $8.5 million into the local economy, the newspaper reported.

The new labor rules officially go into effect in March, but McCormick Place officials are seeking to have the decision potponed.
