Your Weekend Plans

Killer Queen: The weirdest thing about Alien Queen? Somehow, it's exactly what it sounds like: the immortal music of art-rock legends Queen set to a homage-slash-parody of the Alien films. This one-of-a-kind, guaranteed-to-blow-your-mind combo comes to Metro FRIDAY along with Brilliant Pebbles and Mystery Key. $19 tickets available here. 8:00 p.m.

Saturday in the Park: As we learned yesterday, that Rahm Emanuel never met a party he didn't like. Our mayor-to-be will host a free, family friendly inaugural concert at Grant Park SATURDAY, with performances from the South Shore Drill Team, Walt Whitman and the Soul Children of Chicago, Kids These Days, JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound, and Chicago the band. You'll need to let him know you're coming by RSVPing here. 1:00 p.m.

Fuzzy Memories: Despite the key role it's played in some of YouTube's greatest hits, public access television's not the free-for-all forum it once was. SUNDAY at Charnel House, a wake of sorts will be held for the format. "Technical Difficulties: Public Access Television" will explore the good, the bad, and the completely bonkers stuff that made it to the airwaves. Our own local public access staples Chic-a-go-go—with Ratso very much in tow—will join in on the free festivities. 3:00 p.m.

Going out can be a gamble, so why leave it up to chance? Stack the deck every Friday by peeping Play's Weekend Bender.
