Yes We Can (Laugh at Obama)

The "We Love Obama" Comedy Tour brings comics together on one topic

Joanie loves Chachi.

Asher Roth loves college.

And Chicago? Chicago loves Obama.

Hence the debut of a new comedy show, the "We Love Obama" Comedy Tour, that will offer a smart, insightful look at the still-new but already-historic reign of our first black commander-in-chief.

The Chicago-based "We Love Obama" Comedy Tour showcases local comedian Aaron Foster as the host and featured performer, along with comics Shawn Flannery, CJ Sullivan, Dwayne Kennedy, Leon Rogers and Sister Quintella. The performers will each do a five-minute set of stand-up (with a little performance art thrown in for good measure), accompanied with beats by DJ Court.

The show is non-partisan, despite the title. You don't even have to be an Obamaniac to attend. The performances will benefit homeless shelters and injured veterans' associations, and the comedians will focus on the new president's commitment to social service and inclusion.

They may even do something crazy. Bill sign! Bill sign!

The "We Love Obama" Comedy Tour takes place at the Lakeshore Theater (3175 N. Broadway Ave., 773-472-3492) at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27. Tickets are $20.
