Word on the Street: Top Chef Thanksgiving

This week's "Word" segment was shot at Between Boutique Cafe and Lounge, which is creating a buzz these days, mostly because of their executive chef, Radika "Rad" Desai. Chef Rad is competing on Season 5 of "Top Chef: New York," and the visibility is bringing newfound attention to this Wicker Park eatery. You can plug that into your list of things to do this week, and also consider these other options.

  • "Between" isn't throwing a special Thanksgiving dinner this week, but plenty of restaurants are offering turkey and all the trimmings for those of you who would rather not cook. Click here or here for a roundup of some of local places to get your turkey on.
  • Have you ever been to the opera before? If not, now might be a good time to start. The classic "Porgy and Bess" is at the Lyric Opera through Dec. 19. Judging by the crowds lining up last week, you'd better snag your tickets quickly.
  • Chicago has a reputation for great theater, especially for comedy. But Second City isn't the only kid on the block. Wrigleyville's IO is open every night of the week, showcasing different shows. Click here for the full schedule.

"Watch the "Word on the Street" segment on "24/7 Chicago: Secrets of the City," Saturday nights at 12:30 a.m. on NBC5.
