Jaks Tap Hosts Winter Bike Swap

Chances are, if you're a runner, you're an all-around active person. Gotta cross train some days, right? One of my favorite ways to cross train is biking, but with all the attention (and money) I spend paying attention to gear, form, clothes, and more-- it's hard to learn all there is to know about cycling too.

Luckily, the fifth annual Winter Bike Swap will be held at Jaks Tap (901 W. Jackson St in the West Loop) on Feb. 15, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Winter Bike Swap serves as a one-stop shop and resource fair for all things Chicago biking for beginners and experts alike.

You'll be able to browse and buy bikes, clothes, gear, and more; and have a chance to chat with plenty of groups that work on bike-related services and advocacy like Active Transportation Alliance, Bicycle Illinois, Chicago Cycling Club, and more.

Admission is $5 at the door, but for $20 you can also join the Chicagoland Bicycle Coalition (co-hosts of the event along with Chicago Bike Winter and Break the Gridlock) with a one-year membership for $20, admission included, and you snag an event t-shirt too. Proceeds from the event will be split among the three hosting groups, and for more information, check out their website here and the Facebook event here

Chicago runners and Chicago cyclists have a lot in common, so check the Winter Bike Swap out on February 15 to support our active friends, and pick up some new cross training knowledge while you're at it!
